Hello! My name is Amber Chamberland. I am a senior at the University of Minnesota - Duluth, majoring in Marketing and Graphic Design. I am really excited to be interning at Giant Voices this fall. I actually learned about the Giant Voices internship program when I was a freshman, and I’ve wanted to intern here ever since! |

I am attending the University of Minnesota - Duluth.
What is your major?
My major is Marketing and Graphic Design.
When do you graduate?
I will be completing my undergraduate career in May 2022.
What is your favorite class?
My major is a combination of business classes and art classes, so I am very fortunate to have experience in two distinctly different colleges. My favorite class would have to be one of my art classes, Visual Literacy. It was a general education class I took as a freshman where I learned about lines, dots and color. Sounds pretty boring, right? Well, the thing is, because it was such a simple concept, it turned out to be super fun. The lecture portion of the class was like walking through an art museum. I might be nerdy because I like to go to art museums as a hobby, but I have a deep appreciation for art history and how simple things in art can make such a huge difference.
What interests you most about marketing?
Being able to make a connection with people through a form of media such as an ad, post, or other forms of community outreach. I am very interested in advertising.. Creating an ad, a post, or a poster that has the opportunity to be seen by tons of people and could change their behavior or consumption patterns is absolutely fascinating to me.
What is something most people don't know about you?
This is definitely going to come off as strange to some, but I have a strong dislike for bread. I don’t like to eat sandwiches, hamburgers and pizza, unless there is enough of the “other stuff” to mask the taste of the bread. Forget the crust. However, pasta is one of my favorite foods, which is also strange because there isn’t much difference between bread and pasta.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include exploring new places, including visiting local small businesses. I live in Minneapolis four out of seven days a week, so I haven’t had much time to explore Duluth, but it's one of my goals for this school year. Another hobby I have is ice skating. I used to be a competitive figure skater for eight years, I recently “retired” from competitive ice skating and now I like to do it for fun and as a form of exercise. I also enjoy fishing.
